Report: Kanye West Working with Paul McCartney | News | BET

MST August 18, 2014 Are Paul McCartney and Kanye West collaborating on a secret project? (Photo: AP) CONNECT TWEET LINKEDIN COMMENTEMAILMORE Are Paul McCartney and Kanye West collaborating on a secret project, as the New York Post is reporting? If so, should we be excited or shaking our heads in disgust? I’ll go out on a limb next to McCartney here and say this is exciting news. McCartney’s best work with the Beatles and after the breakup has often resulted from boldly embracing new ideas well outside his comfort zone, from the wild psychedelic experimentation of the ’60s through the New Wave oddity that was the “Temporary Secretary” single to his electronic forays with the Fireman. And West is one of mainstream hip-hop’s edgiest producers.

SEE ALSO: Lights Out: Paul McCartney Rocks Candlestick Park for Its Final Show West showed up for Sir Paul’s show in Los Angeles last week, and Page Six says the Beatle has said he wants to work with a rapper. So it must be true! Making it not seem so true: Page Six says one track that’s coming along nicely is called Piss on My Grave. Still time to change that one, fellas. There’s a Wikipedia page’s worth of precedent for McCartney working with fellow megastar musicians in duets and collaborations. “Ebony and Ivory” was just one of two songs McCartney did with Stevie Wonder on the 1982 release “Tug of War,” and people tend to forget that Sir Paul was on Michael Jackson’s Thriller with “The Girl is Mine.” He’s also done duets with Tony Bennett, Elvis Costello, Johnny Cash, George Michael, Brian Wilson and others.

The distinguished producer took to his Twitter platform to make the announcement that hes no longer working for the Chi-town rapper. Not only has Mano known Ye for years, but he was also one of the producers of Lost In The World from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. But as the video below indicates and Gawker points out, it is perhaps that Mano made too many errors during the Yeezus tour why he was fired. During live shows, West would be forced toimprovise during dead air or after an abrupt mix. It is still unclear whether the split was mutual or not, but tweets imply the two will remain friends.
